We are thrilled to have alumna Lucci share with us her story as a doctor and illustrator - and how the two roles complement one another. Watch the video recording here!
Lucci's Biography:
Dr Lucci Lugee Liyeung is an orthopaedic surgeon at the Prince of Wales Hospital. After obtaining her degree in 2005 in Biomedical Engineering from Imperial College, she took a gap year and volunteered at Namibia Harnas Wildlife Foundation, South America and Africa before joining CUHK’s medical school.
Besides her career as a doctor, Dr Lucci is also a talented illustrator. The theme of her artwork has always been a combination in medicine, animals, music, baseball, and travelling. Dr Lucci has been using her talent to help charities. From 2003-2005, she held a two-year fundraising event for Hong Kong Children Cancer Foundation Hospital” where she designed a product line called “Pethletes”, or pet athletes, and managed to raise over HKD20,000.
During the pandemic period, parents in HK are overwhelmed with the situation. Lucci spent three nights and speedily published a cartoon series – Dr Dumo et al; where she intends to use her artwork to improve the health awareness of children. The series has now been translated into more than 10 different languages which was published worldwide.
Lucci’s contribution to society has been highly recognised, and she was interviewed by RTHK, Viu TV and multiple other media in HK.
